ROMANA'S PILATES INSTRUCTOR TRAINING - LONDON
The Romana's Pilates Instructor Training Programme involves over 700 hours of seminars, personal training, observing, assisting and teaching: it trains teachers on all classical Pilates equipment and all levels of Pilates. It follows a clear course outline and has very strict entry requirements.
WHAT MAKES ROMANA'S PILATES SPECIAL?
That is actually a very easy question to answer and it can be done with one word: lineage.
JOSEPH PILATES LEGACY
When Joseph Pilates passed away he left his studio and work to Romana Kryzanowska: she was his chosen protégée. Romana had been trained by, and worked closely with, Joe Pilates for decades and was the obvious choice to continue his work.
Romana continued to work with Pilates' wife Clara until she passed away and oversaw all of the training of clients and teachers at the studio. Of all the Pilates elders (those who trained with Joseph Pilates directly), Romana worked with him the longest and had the deepest understanding of his work.
ROMANA KYZANOWSKA: CLOSE TO THE SOURCE
Joseph Pilates created and developed the work and as George Balanchine said 'he is a genius of the body'. However, it was Romana Kryanowska who popularised it and helped Pilates become the global phenomenon it is today.
In Joseph Pilates' life the work was really only taught at his New York studio, in Romana's lifetime she oversaw the training of countless teachers who went on to open studios worldwide. It is Romana who is responsible for Pilates becoming a household name and a fitness craze that has become one of the most poplar forms of exercise available.
Everyone studying Pilates today can trace their roots back to Romana in one way or another. Either their teacher, or their teacher's teacher or their teacher's teacher's teacher was trained with or by Romana. The closer this connection is, the closer the work is to the way it was intended to be by Joseph Pilates himself.
ROMANA'S PILATES: THE COMPANY
Romana's Pilates is the company that Romana and Sari created to oversee the training of teachers and she personally helped to develop the curriculum. Kinetic Pilates is a Romana's Pilates studio and it is her training programme that we offer.
Most Classical Pilates training programmes on offer today boast their connection to Joseph Pilates and/or Romana and they are run by Master Instructors, which is excellent that they are able to highlight their connection to the source.
At Romana's Pilates it would be nearly impossible to list all of the teachers who were trained by Romana as there are so many. In fact, one of our Level I Grand Master Instructors, Sari Mejia Santo (who is Romana's daughter), was trained by Joseph and Clara Pilates and, of course, her mother. It doesn't get much closer to the source than that.
The hierarchy of the Romana's Pilates teacher training programme is such that apprentice must take seminars and be tested by high level teachers and all must take their final test with a Level I instructor. There are only 3 Level I instructors in the world. This is to insure the quality and consistency of Romana's Pilates instructors, who are highly sought after and considered to be some of the best in the industry.

KNOW WHO YOU ARE TRAINING WITH
You should never consider a training programme with anyone if you have not been studying that kind of pilates for some time. This is to ensure that you truly believe in the quality of Pilates and the style of teaching they will be studying.
It is a entry requirement of Romana's Pilates Teacher Training Programme that apprentices have a minimum of 75 hours of personal training before starting the programme. This also ensures that we are choosing to train the correct individuals.
HOW MANY SENIOR TEACHER TRAINERS
ARE IN THE PROGRAMME?
It´s best not to train with only one person. The more teacher trainers you are able to train with, the more comprehensive and diverse your study will be. The more you are exposed to, the more knowledgeable a teacher you will be.
Romana's Pilates has dozens of high level teacher and the hierarchy of teachers within the company ensures that every trainee is exposed to, and learns from, several of these high level teachers within their teacher training. Our highest level teachers travel around the world giving seminars and testing apprentices.
PART OF A WORLDWIDE FAMILY
Certifying is like passing your driving test: the real learning starts afterwards. Teachers must keep learning and stay close to the leaders of their method to ensure they are providing the best Pilates they can.
Once you are accepted into the programme you are part of the Romana's Pilates family. There are Romana's Pilates studios all over the world and we are a close community that runs annual teacher training seminars and conventions all over the world to continue our practical education even after we certify.
There are countless CPEs (Continuing Professional Education) run by our Level I Master Trainers all over the world and all Romana's teachers are required to take at least one CPE per year. Once you are part of Romana's Pilates you have many opportunities to continue learning.
The only Romana´s instructor training program in the UK at present is run at Kinetic Pilates, the largest Romana´s Pilates studio in Britain.
